Senay Band was formed by ten blind musicians (six music instrument players and four vocalists) who graduated in music from Wisate Birhan Abera Musical College for the blind during the Ethiopian 2000 Millennium.

The Band was formed for the following reasons

1. To create the right awareness about handicaps among societies. i.e being handicap doesn't prohibit from learning and working. Instead handicaps are able of playing a great role in social, political, economic and artistic development of one's society through it's stage performances.

2. Paying major role in Ethiopia's music development by its creative music productions and by producing good Band Sound during stage performances by using better musical instruments and professional sound engineer.

3. Participating in different charity activities in whatever possible condition.

Performances made by the Band starting from its formation are the following

1. The Band performed in the two great Millennium Concerts produced by Addis Ababa Millennium Beauro which got wide national and international medias' coverage.

2. Various awareness programs produced by organizations related with handicaps.

3. Various Wedding, Graduation, and Birthday ceremonies.
